Frankie “The Answer” Edgar is a badass. The former lightweight champion is preparing for his first foray at the 135 pound weight class. His bantamweight debut will be in “Fight Island” on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
A narrative that has followed Edgar throughout his career has been his size. Frankie has almost always been the smaller fighter in his professional career. Despite beating BJ Penn twice and defending the lightweight strap, this is a cut many fans had hoped to see years ago.
With a record of 23-8-1 MMA, 17-8-1 (UFC), Frankie Edgar has fought the who’s who at the top of two divisions. It appears that the drop to bantamweight will be no different. Pedro Munhoz is a tough fight for anyone at 135 and holds a TKO victory over Cody Garbrant. Even though Frankie should be the favorite, it will be an interesting look to see if Edgar can make one last run at at the title.
