League of Legends Week 3 | LCS Summer Split (2020)

Just like that week 3 of the LCS is in the books. There were a few players moved off the starting line up and a few staff members removed entirely from their squads. Cloud 9 is still playing LCS on easy mode, and Dignitas has yet to win a game. Lots to talk about, so lets get into it.

Immortals Coach Smited

Immortals League general manager Keaton Cryer and head coach Thomas “Zabnoutine” Si Hassen were fired following a rough 0-4 start in the LCS summer split. After the change, Jake “Xmithie” Puchero back returned as the starting jungler, replacing Nicholas James Joseph “Potluck” Pollock. The IMT squad picked up their first win this split and went 1-1 after the organizational changes. They are currently tied for 8th place in the LCS.

Phreaked Out

Phreak flamed Henrik “Froggen” Hansen and the Dignitas squad in their match against Team Liquid. Phreak’s critique centered around Dignitas having some of he worst League of Legends he had ever seen in competitive play. It was refreshing to hear Phreak express honesty and frustration with the play of the leagues bottom teams.

Dignitas has look awful this split. Zero vision control, the team struggles to build leads anywhere on the map, and there is an overall absence of team identity. At this point Dignitas should start thinking about Spring Split 2021.

5 Teams One 2nd

The race to be the second best team in the LCS is as strong as ever. 5 teams are tied for 2nd place. It will be interesting to see which team is ready to seize second place, because as of right now, C9 is the only team with claim to the throne.

Got 100 Questions But 10th Ain’t One

Everything about the 100 Thieves organization is cool, except for their professional League play. On paper the organization looks like they have a great. Top laner Chanho “Ssumday” Kim is an absolute beast. Liyu “Cody Sun” Sun is a really strong AD carry. It is sad to see “Ssumday” on a 8th place team. William “Meteos” Hartman was benched, for Juan “Contractz” Garcia. The challenge with this squad is in the Mid Jungle synergy. Tommy “Ryonma” Le is also struggling this split. The team drafts and plays around mid and it is still a weak point on the map. When Ryoma finally was able to scale on Azir versus TSM, massive game losing mistakes still were made.

Meteos was not having a strong split. However, it’s still unfortunate to see him benched from the starting 100 Thieves spot for the second time. Meteos stated in a tweet which is now deleted, “Pretty weird to hear the players on my team didn’t know about or agree with the decision. All credit goes to @Zikzlol, @JungleJuiceLol and @PapaSmithy!” This tweet was not a good look, and directly attacked the 100 Thieves organization in public. The organization has also stated that Contractz champion pool fits better with the meta.
