Netflix Confirms Season 4 of Ozark

We will get one more incredible ride with the Marty Byrde and his drug dealing family. The final season of Netflix’s hit series Ozark has been confirmed. The final season will consist of a 14 episode arc, as opposed to the usual 10. The 14 episodes will be split into 2 halves, with premier dates yet to be announced.

In a statement by showrunner Chris Mundy (via Variety) “We’re so happy Netflix recognised the importance of giving Ozark more time to end the Byrdes’ saga right. It’s been such a great adventure for all of us — both on screen and off — so we’re thrilled to get the chance to bring it home in the most fulfilling way possible.”

Awesome, When Can We Watch It?

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it is unclear when production will begin. However, it is unlikely to begin before 2021. This could mean that production of the second half of the season may not begin until 2022. These are all, at best, educated guesses. These dates could be slightly sooner or much longer out, it is anyone’s guess. In regards to the longer season, Jason Bateman said, “A super-sized season means super-sized problems for the Byrdes. I’m excited to end with a bang(s).”

Ozark Is So Good

The show first premiered on Netflix in 2017 and initially, was thought to be a poor-man’s Breaking Bad. Ozark quickly creates its own unique world and carved out a strong identity independent from other thematically similar experiences.

Jason Bateman has always been great. His dry persona was hilarious in the hit comedy series Arrested Development. And as great as A.D. was, Bateman’s work in Ozark is arguably his best work. Bateman has even directed episodes of the series and won Emmy for best directing in a drama series. Jason plays a talented financial advisor named Marty Byrde. Marty and his business partner launder money for a Mexican drug cartel. As trouble rapidly mounts, he moves his family to the Lake of the Ozarks. There he hopes to satisfy his promise to the cartel and subsequently keep his family alive.

The shows supporting cast are all great. Marty’s wife, Wendy Byrde, is wonderfully portrayed by Laura Linney. Together, they have gripping chemistry, and have created a unique dynamic in an extremely addictive crime drama. With all of the uncertainty in the world, it is fantastic to see that people are still passionately pursuing and creating entertaining projects for the world.
