Dustin Poirier vs. Tony Ferguson No Longer In The Works

As of right now, the fight on October 24th between Dusitn Poirier and Tony Ferguson is off. Former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier told ESPN that “UFC and I didn’t come to terms.” He also stated that “I will not be fighting on Oct. 24.” Poirier is expected to head back to his home in Lafayette next week. This really sucks. What an amazing and important fight for the UFC lightweight division.

Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier, recently bounced back off is 3rd round submission loss to the current champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov with an exciting 5 round decision victory over Dan Hooker. Poirier (18-6-1 UFC, 26-6-1 MMA) has been a dominant force inside of the octagon losing only once since 2017. “The Diamond” has an incredible resume and holds notable wins over Max Holloway x2, Diego Fereira, Yancy Medeios, Joseph Duffy, Bobby Green, Jim Miller, Anthony Pettis, Justin Gaethje, Eddie Alarez, and Dan Hooker.

Former interim UFC lightweight champion Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson recently tasted defeat against Justin Gaethje for the first time since 2012. Which in MMA, is more than a few lifetimes. Ferguson holds victories over Gleison Tibau, Josh Thomson, Edson Barboza, Lando Vannata, Rafael dos Anjos, Kevin Lee, Anthony Pettis, and Donald Cerrone.

Hopefully, they can get this fight back on track. If money is the issue, then please pay them UFC, this fight and these fighters are worth it.
